Two different ways of stretching
Pre-stretched film has already been extended before it is wound into the supplied roll. Standard stretch film is extended during application. A wrapping machine may have its own pre-stretch carriage; that is distinct from buying a pre-stretched roll.
Check the wrapping method
Discuss whether the film will be applied by hand or machine. If a machine is used, confirm compatibility with its carriage, controls and settings. The product label by itself does not establish suitability.
Compare performance before savings
Thinner film or higher stretching does not automatically mean a better outcome. Evaluate the wrap pattern and load containment as well as measured film consumption; reducing consumption is useful only if the required load performance is retained.
Use a consistent trial
Use representative loads and record the film type, wrapping settings, amount used and result. Change one variable at a time where practical. A sample trial is a starting point for agreement with your packaging team, not a guaranteed savings claim.
