A nearby production option
Türkiye offers a geographically close production source for many European destinations and overlapping working hours for sales discussions. Shorter replenishment cycles and smaller stock requirements are potential benefits to evaluate against actual production time, routes and transport quotations.
Compare the landed cost
Compare the product price on the same net-film weight basis, then add freight, insurance where relevant, import handling, applicable taxes and any other agreed costs. A low price per kilogram by itself does not establish the lowest delivered cost.
Agree the transport responsibilities
Ask for available road or sea transport options, the destination, delivery terms and who books and pays for each stage. Identify the importer and the party responsible for customs clearance. Confirm lead time, dispatch arrangements and delivery estimates before placing an order.
EU Customs Union and A.TR
For eligible industrial goods in free circulation, the EU–Türkiye Customs Union can remove ordinary customs duties when the applicable conditions and documentation are met. An A.TR movement certificate evidences free-circulation status; it is not a general origin certificate and does not remove VAT, other charges or every trade measure. Confirm classification and treatment with your customs broker.
Prepare an import document checklist
Discuss the commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, applicable A.TR and any required product documentation. The invoice and packing list should match the agreed goods, quantities, weights and delivery terms. Your importer or broker confirms country-specific requirements.
Recycled content and local obligations
Recyclability and recycled content are different. Any PCR claim needs a confirmed percentage and supporting documentation. Product and country obligations, including plastic-packaging taxes, require review for the actual destination; Türkiye sourcing alone does not create an exemption. ESS’s PCR options are not yet confirmed.
Start with a manageable evaluation
Agree sample and shipping conditions, evaluate the film for your application and discuss an appropriate trial quantity. Minimum quantities, mixed-load possibilities and payment terms require factory confirmation. The EU information here must not be assumed to apply to the UK.
