Cost per Wrapped Pallet

Compare measured film consumption alongside price and load performance.

Start with measured consumption

For a material-only comparison, multiply the measured net film used per pallet, in kilograms, by the net-film price per kilogram. Film consumption should come from a representative wrapping trial.

A worked example

Illustrative figures only: Film A costs €1.60/kg and uses 0.30 kg per pallet, giving €0.48 in film per pallet. Film B costs €1.80/kg and uses 0.24 kg, giving €0.432. The difference is €0.048 per pallet, or €480 over 10,000 pallets. These are not ESS prices or tested product results.

Keep the comparison fair

Compare the same load and required containment performance. Record film specification, machine settings, layer count, trial results and waste. A lower material cost is not a satisfactory saving if damage or rewrapping rises.

Separate material cost from total cost

The simple calculation excludes labour, machine costs, film waste not included in the measured consumption, freight, taxes and damage. Add those separately if you are assessing total packaging or landed supply cost.

Use results to choose a sample

Send your current film price basis, measured consumption and application details. We can discuss suitable product options for evaluation. An interactive calculator is a later feature; this guide provides the calculation method now.
